Hello! Welcome to the Second Round of
homemade2homemade’s Geeky Gift Exchange! Please cut and paste the sign up form at the bottom into the comments of this post. We will not start matching participants until January 31st or until we get the max amount of participants for this round (30). Please do consider promoting the fest on your journals with this handy-dandy banner.
Key dates in 2019
Matching and assignments: on or before February 7th
Check in: by March 21st
Post by: May 7th (about 12 weeks of crafting time)
First, a little explanation on what we need in the sign ups and why. First and foremost, the sign ups are mostly for us to find the best matches we can with what people want to receive and want to offer. Please be as specific as you can in your request. Gifters, if you need more info, please come to us (homemade2homemademod@gmail.com) and we’ll be your go between.
Name: We don’t need your real name right now. We'll ask for that when we get your address for your crafter.
Email: PLEASE make sure it’s one that you check regularly. There are a few times throughout the fest that we will need to get a hold of you via email.
Things you geek about: We need to know what fandoms, hobbies and interests make you happy. Please be specific as you can, from favorite color, favorite character, favorite song, etc etc...You don’t want a Gryffindor scarf if you’re in Slytherin now do you? Or let's say you put that one of your interests is horses, but you are terrified of unicorns, you wouldn’t want any of those showing up on an embroidered thing, would you? Also, if you don’t want fandom related things, or only want fandom related things, let us know that too. Same goes for interests and hobbies.
Any allergies/postal restrictions/simple DNWs: Allergies--we need to know all the things you can’t have from food allergies, to scents and fibers. Postal restrictions--are there things your country won’t let be sent through the mail? Sometimes this differs if the packages are sent internationally or within the same country. Simple Do Not Wants--This is the place to put things you just don’t like, crafts you really don’t want to receive. Not into baked goods? Don’t want to receive the same type of craft that you make? This is the place to tell us.
What kind of crafter are you? What are you willing to gift? Are you a potter or a woodworker? A knitter or a candymaker? Do you dabble in a bunch of things? Are the things connected by medium? If so, are there things you DON’T do? Do you not want to do fandom specific things? Only want to do fandom specific things?
What country do you live in? and Are you willing to ship internationally? These two go together. If you live outside the USA, and can't ship internationally for whatever reason, we might still be able to match you. There were at least two participants from every country represented last year. Get in touch with the mods to talk more. This year, we need everyone to track their parcels, thanks!

Things you Geek About (interests, hobbies, fandoms):
* Star Trek (especially DS9 and Disco; I love Trills and Bajorans; the VOY/DS9 uniforms are my favourites; Science (blue!) is my department; faves include Dax and Kira and Sisko and Janeway and Kat Cornwell and Philippa Georgiou and Michael Burnham)
* Doctor Who (my Doctors are Thirteen, Nine, Eight, and Three)
* Babylon 5 (especially Delenn and Minbari things)
* Foreigner series by CJ Cherryh (atevi!)
* The Expanse (TV show, Avasarala and Bobbie and the Roci crew, though I'm not real big on Holden himself)
* Captain Marvel, Supergirl
* Mass Effect (I'd love something N7-themed that wasn't black/red!)
* Lord of the Rings (hobbits and elves)
* science fiction and space stuff generally; time travel, rocketships, book-themed things, etc.
* LGBT pride, especially bi/lesbian stuff (just don't make it wall-to-wall pink)
For fannish things I love both things that reference the fandom from a real-world perspective (like a TARDIS pattern on something) and things that could exist in-world (like a Beratnas Gas t-shirt or something with elvish script).
I love things to wear (shirts, soft cuddly sweaters, socks, belts, but no hats), things for my house (pillowcases, picture frames, flower vases, etc), things to put things in (boxes, bags, purses, cups for pens/pencils, even more boxes), things to look at (drawings/paintings/sculptures), things to eat out of (bowls, small plates, though I'm told we have too many coffee mugs already).
I love woodwork, leather goods, pottery, knitted/crocheted work, glass & metal jewelry, and handmade clothing. I also do paper and fibre crafts myself so I love things like interesting/handmade paper and fabulous pretty yarns.
Favourite colours: Blue! TARDIS blue, cool purplish-blues, warm turquoise-blues, bright blues and soft weathered blues. Also purples and greens (especially bluish-purples and bluish-greens). I tend to go for more mid-range tones than either pastels or neon. Rainbow anything is generally great, either in the sense of multiple colours in one item or in the sense of gay pride. (I'm also not against the bi flag colours! :D)
Any allergies/postal restrictions/simple DNWs:
* No food or perishables (for shipping reasons--it likely won't keep)
* Nothing religion-themed
* No nickel in earring posts
* No wool (in clothing--I can work with it but not wear it)
* I love hats on other people but can never wear them myself :-(
* Colour DNWs: Especially for clothing, I don't do well with things in the orange/red/brown colour range, olive green, dark navy, or black/white/grey (e.g. black t-shirts with a small design on them). Multicolour designs are great, and I really love things in blue/green/purple and jewel tones. I'm open to a lot more variety in colour in things I'm not actually wearing.
What country do you live in? Canada
Are you willing to ship internationally? Yes
What kind of crafter are you?/What are you willing to gift?
Happy to do either fandom or nonfandom things.
Crochet: I make a lot of hats, and can do other similar soft & cuddly things like scarves or small baby blankets.
Sock dolls: I make small (around 10" tall?) cuddly dolls out of crew socks + mostly upcycled materials. These have been fandom-related (the Eighth Doctor, a Starfleet officer), or can be non-fandom (modelled on a friend, a baby doll, a weird little alien). See pics for examples.
Are you willing to pinch hit if necessary? No
What about if shipping is paid for? Time is a concern more than shipping. I could whip up a cute crochet hat pretty quickly if I had the right yarn, though!
If you participated in last round, who did you create for/who created for you?: This is my first year participating! <3
Please let me know if I've missed anything! Can't tell if this is too long or not enough info, or if I should add more non-fannish interests...

Date: 2019-02-01 07:03 am (UTC)I should probably add in there somewhere that I have a cat and she kind of gets in everywhere? In case that's important for matching re: people who are allergic! <3
