ambyr sent me some beautiful beadwork, which sat in our mailbox for too long (sorry!) and was mistaken for something I ordered when I brought it in.

Star of David bracelet in my favorite colors (which I also happened to be wearing yesterday). I love that the clasp can mostly be worked without help.

Ooooh! Wow! It never occurred to me to do a framed beaded piece like that and I love both the concept and the execution.

Thanks! I happened to have the frame unused sitting around the house, so I sort of built the concept around that.

The Alliance phoenix looks like a tsuba to begin with (probably not a coincidence, all things considered) and this stunningly simple presentation with the color-blocked background just enhances it. Beautiful aesthetic!

The background is a bit of scrap wallpaper I picked up from FabMo, a Bay Area non-profit that collects discarded designer samples and redistributes them to crafters. I encourage anyone in the Bay Area to check them out! (They are of course not doing much at present given stay-at-home orders, but they're working on figuring out ways to do curbside pick-up or by-mail delivery in the near future.)
